I also understand taking time off the apps. I miss very little from not having Twitter and Facebook anymore.
i keep facebook and instagram inclusively to send my wife reels. I deleted Twitter in 2022 and that was really instructive to me (this was a year before Elon took over) about how much it influenced my mind. Substack isn’t as bad, but the effect is real/similar, albeit to a much lesser degree.
I also took the app off of my phone, avoid Notes, and unwatched the more political oriented accounts I was following. Now my curated experience is more casual, more focused on religion and/or meaning, and if I venture into current events it's more about the deeper issues they are symptoms of. Best of luck in your job search, it's always a war of attrition.

Glad you got out west. I think Denver is better in the summer than DC, given the lower humidity. (Assuming there isn't bad smoke.)
